Do you know the huge red lantern at the Kaminarimon (雷門, "Thunder Gate") of Sensō-ji (浅草寺) in Asakusa, Tokyo. It’s one of the most famous landmarks in Japan!
The lantern has the kanji 雷門 ("Thunder Gate") written on it.On the left side of the gate stands Fūjin (風神, God of Wind) and on the right side is Raijin (雷神, God of Thunder).
You can see many similar gates of Shrines and temples in all over Japan. The gods are protecting the shrines and temples from evils, and they are symbols of the balance  and harmony of nature.
